myLo the Marmot
Olympic Peninsula, WA – In a shocking turn of events, myLocal—the software company connecting local businesses with their communities—has just onboarded its newest team member, myLo, the Olympic Marmot. While most mascots settle for waving from the sidelines, myLo has officially joined the software development team at myLocal’s tech hub, https://mylo.ing.

And he has some thoughts about that. “I walked in, saw the domain name was literally mylo.ing, and immediately assumed it was a personal invitation,” said myLo, who spent the first hour of his employment filing a formal request for royalties on the domain. “Turns out, it's short for myLocal, but honestly, it feels like fate.”
A Marmot Among Developers
Unlike the usual software engineer, myLo does not possess opposable thumbs, a fact that has made coding a unique challenge. However, what he lacks in fine motor skills, he makes up for in unwavering enthusiasm, high caffeine consumption, and an uncanny ability to debug by simply sitting on problematic code.
“myLo may not type very fast, but he’s an excellent motivator,” said Jon Tjemsland. “Any time a build fails, he dramatically collapses in despair. It’s very effective.”
Despite initial skepticism about his technical skills, myLo has already made a name for himself at mylo.ing by:
- Reviewing thousands of lines of code (by staring intently at them, occasionally squeaking).
- Contributing to stand-up meetings (mostly by standing up on his chair and making coffee requests).
- Demanding all myLocal documentation be ‘marmot-friendly’ (exactly what this entails remains unclear).
Caffeine-Driven Development
Despite questionable programming skills and a refusal to abide by meeting agendas, myLo is already a core part of myLocal’s development team. His next major initiatives include:
- Advocating for a ‘snack-driven development’ methodology (results pending).
- Insisting on an animated loading screen featuring himself (“for morale,” he says).
- Exploring the possibility of a ‘Burrow Mode’ feature that lets users disappear from meetings when overwhelmed.
"myLo is proof that anyone can be part of the tech world," said Jon Tjemsland. "Just as long as they bring enough coffee for the team."
